Every time I make this...it disappears
Mac and cheese is a classic dish. Classic in that most everyone has eaten it at one time or another. No matter how it's cooked, it's usually very tasty. Most people boil it, then add the ingredients. Sometimes they bake it after they boil it. All of that sounds like too much work to me. I'm just a guy that's throwing stuff together than tastes good. That's it.
So If I can cut down on boiling, baking, and jumping through other not so useful hoops...that's what I'm gonna do.
Let's Get To It
This recipe is going to be rather short and sweet. I put it together for my niece, who asked me for some crockpot recipes. I'll add some pictures later. Maybe. But for now, let's just get the ingredients together.INGREDIENTS:
- 1 lb. macaroni noodles, uncooked
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 1 cup milk
- 12 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded
- 8 oz. Velveeta, cubed
- 8 oz Cream Cheese
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- Some salt.. 1 to 1 1/2 will probably do it.
- Some onion poweder... how does 1 teaspoon sound?
- Some ground mustard.. .about 1/4 teaspoons ought to do it.
- If you want a little kick, add about 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Note: Feel free to put cooked and chipped bacon, onions, mushrooms, or any thing else you want in the ingredients. It's your stuff. You're the one that's going to have to eat it, so it might as well taste the way YOU want it to taste.
How To Cook It
Like the ingredients, the instruction are sort of up to you as well.
- Turn the crockpot on high and drop the 1/2 cup of butter into it.
- Before the butter melts, rub it on the entire inside walls of the crockpot.
- Wash and drain the noodles. Then just drop them into the crockpot.
- Pour the milk and evaporated milk into the mix.
- Shred the cheese and stir it into the mix.
- Add the salt, onion powder, pepper into the mix
- Cube the Velveeta and Cream cheese...then drop it into the crockpot.
- Turn the crockpot on high.
- Check on it in two hours, but do not stir it. Just check to see if the noodles are cooking.
- Turn the crock pot down to low.
- Check on it an hour later.? Still good?
